2025 Honoree – Herman Beeftink (USA)

 

In recognition of his outstanding contribution to the flute repertoire in 2025 through the creation of four new flute works—three for flute and piano and one for solo flute—adding to a catalogue that now includes more than ninety compositions for the instrument.

These widely performed and accessible works are distinguished by lyricism, clarity of expression, and refined craftsmanship, sustaining an active presence in both concert life and flute pedagogy and serving performers and educators worldwide.

 


2024 Honoree — Lowell Liebermann (USA)

In recognition of his extraordinary contribution to the flute repertoire through the creation of Flute Concerto No. 2, premiered by the Chicago Symphony Orchestra in March 2024 with principal flutist Stefán Ragnar Höskuldsson under the baton of Susanna Mälkki.

This groundbreaking work showcases the flute’s lyrical and technical brilliance while blending modern sensibilities with timeless romanticism — inspiring flutists and audiences worldwide.
