With participation spanning more than 250 countries and territories, our approach to jury selection and review is designed to reflect the global nature of the Awards while ensuring complete neutrality and transparency.

The work of the jury is carried out under the distinguished leadership of our Honorary Chairs, Sir James and Lady Jeanne Galway, whose artistic legacy sets the highest standard for the Awards. Their guidance, together with the support of our Honorary Patrons, reinforces the integrity, authority, and global vision of the entire evaluation process.

A Select Jury of International Experts

Each year, jurors are individually invited based on their exceptional achievements, professional reputation, and contributions to the global flute community.
They represent a wide spectrum of expertise — performers, educators, composers, makers, innovators, and cultural leaders.

To ensure the highest level of impartiality:

• Jurors’ identities remain confidential until the day results are announced.
  This protects them from external pressure, influence, or discussion.
• Each juror is assigned to one category only, specifically chosen to ensure they have no personal, professional, or institutional interest in any nominee within that category.

This structure allows for focused, unbiased evaluation grounded in expertise.

An Ethical and Transparent Evaluation Process

Once the list of final nominees is established, jurors receive the materials for their assigned category and cast their votes using a formal, category-specific evaluation form.
Each form outlines clear, standardized criteria designed to ensure:

• consistency
• objectivity
• international comparability
• and equal treatment for all finalists

Jurors complete this process independently, without communication among themselves, maintaining the integrity of every vote.

Independent Statistical Verification

After all votes are submitted, the complete set of data is forwarded to a professional statistician who performs an independent, confidential analysis.

This statistical review:

• verifies accuracy
• identifies anomalies
• ensures consistency across categories
• confirms that results reflect objective scoring

Only after this final stage is the outcome authenticated and prepared for public announcement.

Annual Announcement and Jury Reveal

The official results — including the category winners and the complete list of jurors — are announced publicly on January 10.

Releasing the jury names on the same day ensures:

• protection of the jury during the evaluation period
• transparency and public accountability once the process is complete

In the previous cycle, the Awards were honored to have 52 jurors from 19 countries, demonstrating the truly international scope and diversity of expertise represented in our review process.
