András Adorján
Internationally acclaimed for his artistry, scholarship, and lifelong dedication to the flute, András Adorján stands among the most respected flutists of his generation. Born in Budapest, raised in Denmark, and long based in Germany, he unites the rich Central European musical tradition with a distinctive artistic voice admired around the world.
A laureate of several international competitions, Adorján studied with Jean-Pierre Rampal and Aurèle Nicolet, both of whom left a lasting influence on his refined sound and impeccable musicianship. His brilliant career as soloist, chamber musician, and orchestral performer includes collaborations with many of the world’s leading conductors and ensembles, and an extensive discography of more than 100 recordings spanning classical, Romantic, and contemporary repertoire.
Beyond the concert stage, Adorján has been a passionate advocate for the art of the flute through his work as a teacher, editor, and researcher. He has taught at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater in Munich and at the Cologne Musikhochschule, shaping generations of leading flutists worldwide. His publications, including Lexikon der Flöte and numerous critical editions, have become essential references for flute performers and scholars alike.
