1. Purpose and Scope

What is the Global Flute Excellence Awards?

The Global Flute Excellence Awards recognize outstanding artistic, educational, cultural, and professional contributions to the flute world.

With the exception of the Lifetime Achievement Award, all categories evaluate time-specific impact within the award year, ensuring fair comparison among nominees.

Why is award-year specificity required?

The Awards are designed to document the living history of the flute world — identifying what is shaping the field now, rather than retrospectively honoring long-established careers.

This ensures:

▪︎ Temporal fairness
▪︎ Consistent jury evaluation
▪︎ Clear historical documentation

2. Eligibility and Categories

Who is eligible for nomination?

Any individual or ensemble whose work aligns with a category’s criteria may be nominated, regardless of nationality or professional affiliation.

Eligibility is assessed solely on the information provided in the nomination.

What are the eligibility requirements for the Emerging Artist category?

The Emerging Artist of the Year category is open to flutists who are:

▪︎ Between 17 and 35 years of age, or
▪︎ Within the first 10 years of their professional career

This category recognizes exceptional promise, artistic growth, and developing professional impact.

What if an artist has an extraordinary long career but no award-year milestone?

Such contributions may be more appropriate for Lifetime Achievement consideration.

All other categories require current, documented impact within the award year.

3. Nomination Process

Can I nominate myself?

Yes. Self-nominations are permitted.

All self-nominated candidates are evaluated using the same criteria and review process as all other nominees.

Can the same person or ensemble be nominated in multiple categories?

Yes — only if the achievements described independently meet the criteria for each category.

Each category requires a separate nomination and justification.

Multiple nominations do not influence jury outcomes.

What information is required in a nomination?

Each nomination must include:

▪︎ The nominee’s full name and professional identification
▪︎ A clear description of achievements within the award year and their relevance to the category
▪︎ Optional publicly accessible supporting materials (performances, projects, press, publications)

4. Definition of Impact

What does “impact” mean in the context of the Awards?

For evaluation purposes, impact refers to demonstrable artistic, educational, cultural, or professional influence occurring within the award year.

Impact is assessed qualitatively, based on:

▪︎ Significance
▪︎ Relevance
▪︎ Clarity of contribution
▪︎ Contextual influence

Do volume, frequency, or longevity automatically qualify a nomination?

No.
Except for the Lifetime Achievement Award, the Awards do not evaluate:

▪︎ Career length
▪︎ Total output
▪︎ Historical reputation

Only award-year contributions are considered.

Is online or digital activity eligible?

Yes — only if it represents:

▪︎ New work
▪︎ New visibility
▪︎ A clearly defined contribution introduced during the award year

Archival material or ongoing platforms without new award-year relevance do not qualify independently.

Are popularity metrics considered?

No.

The Awards are not based on:

▪︎ Audience size
▪︎ View counts
▪︎ Social media metrics
▪︎ Rankings or public voting

Evaluation is qualitative and conducted by an independent international jury.

5. Category-Specific Clarification

What qualifies as Performer of the Year impact?

Examples may include, but are not limited to:

▪︎ Major performances, debuts, premieres, or tours during the award year
▪︎ Significant artistic projects initiated or completed during the award year
▪︎ Clearly articulated contributions with demonstrable professional influence

All claims must be supported by verifiable information.

6. Review and Jury Evaluation

What happens after a nomination is submitted?

All nominations undergo an initial eligibility and relevance review.

Only nominations that clearly meet category criteria proceed to jury evaluation.

Submission does not guarantee jury consideration.

Are self-nominations evaluated differently?

No.

All nominations are evaluated using identical criteria and procedures.

What if a nomination is not selected?

Non-selection does not reflect on artistic quality or professional standing.

It indicates that the submitted information did not sufficiently meet the category criteria for the award year.

7. Recognition and Outcomes

What is the Global Flute Excellence Directory?

The Global Flute Excellence Directory is a curated professional registry recognizing distinguished contributors to the global flute community.

Award winners receive a complimentary featured listing, supporting professional visibility and documentation of excellence.

What is the Winner Digital Badge?

The Winner Digital Badge is an official designation granted to award recipients.

It may be displayed on websites, social media, and professional materials as verified recognition by the Global Flute Excellence Awards.

What happens if a nomination does not meet award-year requirements?

If the submitted information does not clearly demonstrate award-year relevance, the nomination cannot proceed to jury evaluation.

This ensures consistency, fairness, and transparency across all categories.

Achievements outside the award year, cumulative career accomplishments, or historical significance may provide context but are not independently determinative.

Nominations that do not clearly demonstrate award-year relevance may be deemed ineligible for jury evaluation.

Conflict of Interest and Independence

Jury members are selected for their expertise, professional standing, and international perspective.

Jurors are required to evaluate nominations independently and objectively. Where a potential conflict of interest exists, jurors are expected to act in accordance with internal ethical guidelines.
